The Stacker News model is pretty darn good.
SN brings together already orange-pilled netizens and sharing thoughts and information. It uses sats to incentivize good work and doesn't need a central body. Pretty great stuff.
@k00b and crew has the FOSS code up to it's github repository. Users can check it out, suggest, add, debug it etc, etc. Naturally, with FOSS, the code can also be cloned, changed and adopted by others so that a Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese version for HODLers who can't properly enjoy the English version, can (if desired) create a seperate community.
Could the SN template be used for communities other than HODLers?
The above examples could be viable - that's a given. However, could it be possible for the template to work outside of the ₿itcoin community and still work?
What pitfalls and problems might these communities encounter?
The model is perfect ground for this community, we are orange-pilled and the job boards from ₿itcoin-friendly employers distribute more sats to the circular economy - but could it successfully work for Artists, Community Newspapers, Gamers, etc?
A p̶̶e̶̶n̶̶n̶̶y̶ sat for your thoughts?
I think SN is great and I see no reason why its model couldn’t work with more subs or outside of the bitcoin community.
I’d certainly use it for all of the subjects that interest me - political discussions, tai chi forums, spiritual stuff, history etc.

Good to hear more positivity.
One thing that surfaced for me over the last few days is how such clones (outside of IT) would need to replace the Job Board as being the primary way of bringing sats into the circular economy.
SN can do this as these IT employers are Bitcoin savvy and the jobs are remote. However, how could this work outside of a IT based template...
I'm sure users will come up with some clever solutions.
More ideas and critiques please!

Very interesting idea. Many of us here have mused about the need for more subs, and this could solve the issue. Right off the bat it seems that SN clones in different languages would be a great use case.

Even if some shitcoiners will fork it and use it for their shitcoin.news it will not work. Maybe they could come up with a token used for vote/tips like sats, but will be another scam scheme.
SN is unique and powerful exactly because it use Bitcoin sats and LN, for login and for voting/rewards. Thing that is really difficult to do it with any shitcoin.
The beauty of SN is that even if is forked and used for other topics/use, MUST use BTC and LN, otherwise will be just a shity fad forum. That means Bitcoin wins again.

Yeah, I was worried about using the ol' 'F' word just in case that it was misconstrued that way. Cloning, a la Github parlance felt better.
That means Bitcoin wins again.
Yay, the idea didn't break things! 🎉

The best way is for SN to grow as community interests naturally broaden. Seems like it's just hitting its stride with its niche. I mean, I watched for a while before I started to see the point. So let more subs come perhaps through some sort of nomination/voting scheme.
Free software means you can do anything but it's an odd combo to have the drive to create a brand new forum based on SN software but not to want to talk about sats and end up competing poorly.

Yeah, I know just what you're saying.
I wouldn't want things to get tacky. But as @darthcoin says, if anyone tries to subvert things, the template would only make Bitcoin stronger.
Other language clones seems like the obvious way to go.
See another reply as to how non-IT based forums might struggle.

Indeed a SN in other language will be useful.
