Big question yes...
I think that all the good people in this community come from different experiences, jobs, studies.
This is the beauty of Bitcoin, everyone can contribute, defend and enjoy this incredible revolution. All people arrived here for different reason and with different backgrounds. I am always amazed to listen how people got trapped in the rabbit hole, it's really the best part of the bitcoin experience imo.
I am a dev, an embedded dev and so I can say I discovered it in 2012 thanks to a colleague, at the beginning I saw it like a big joke. I know many of us did this error at the very beginning. Anyway I kept an eye on it and, at a certain point, I understand that it was the most incredible thing appeared after the internet: many great devs comes in, value growth, scammers incoming ( I was a shitcoiner too I admit, like many of us... ;) ) and many other signal of success.
I'd really like to listen all the stories of all bitcoiners birth, it's a thing I love.
The real big question for me is how we can help the majority to come with us, to get the switch on.
Because politics and corrupted state people apart it's not possible to avoid the beauty of freedom.
What can we do?? Btc is now usable for many, but many people can't feel the sparkle inside: lazyness, habit, frustration, fear?
What we can do ?
I always try to convince friends to get paid for small things in btc, but many always think to the corrisponding value in fiat, they are immersed in a fiat world and I can't get how many don't want to emerge from this knightmare...
I'd like to listen to all your histories of orange pilling to yourself and to your friends, the road is long and difficult, but we have to win!
Stay humble and stack sats forever!
I too like to hear stories of how people got orange pilled. I'm not sure if it's simple entertainment or if it provides a real benefit for adoption, but I enjoy it. Explaining it to others is more difficult.
Lately I have been putting in more effort to orange pill family and friends. It's really because my group of family andfriends know I'm interested. Initially they thought it was weird, then after the 2022 bear market some of them kidded me that I was now broke, or felt bad for me and would buy me a drink (not so bad).
Now they're more curious, and the conversation flows more naturally. I'm not good at having a canned orange pill speech. It falls flat and unconvincing. At least for me, a little at a time to the point where they want to know more and initiate the conversation is more effective.

That's amazing @siggy47! Educating your loved ones it's always a good start! Have another mission now. Try to convince your favourite bartender to accept bitcoin, your greengrocer, your baker. We need them in our army to win, we cannot win alone!
Go on with your orange pilling mission!

I think we should focus on creating an alternative system that works better than the mainstream system. Apart from banks and politicians, focused on circular economies and energy grids. As people see it works and it works better, little by little they will move to it. People in countries with wars, financial or energy instability will move to it faster as their lives depend on it. So just keep stacking and using in in your daily live as much as possible while constructing the alternative and ignore the noise. People will be orange pilled when they are ready for it.

Yep! I got your point, but sometimes I have the weird feeling that speaking too much doesn't convince people. I mean...the real shift would happen imo if i can take easily my friend to a pub/bar/restaurant and paying with my wallet to the host, I am convinced that we need the revolution from the bottom, speeches are good to educate people, create a narration and so on, but the simple act of paying an ice cream with a lighting wallet it's curiosity generator: why he's using this and why the ice maker accept this?
Surprising a person that is expecting a fiat payment and fucking his mind with a btc payment could switch the ON trigger. Your friend could start asking to his mind why merchant WANTS my sats I am happy to pay with my sats, this is a real game changer.
We need more people ( both payer/merchant ) HUNGRY of sats! This imo is better than 100000 speeches.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I do agree, many people are lucky enough to have the possibility to buy a coffee or a beer or even go to the supermarket with sats through lightning, and adoption is going fast, a few years ago that would have sounded impossible. Maybe you can go on a trip with your friends somewhere you know some business accept bitcoin and orange pill them there.

yep I do this every time i can, what I wanted to say before, maybe in a confusing way is that I see a great importance of small merchant at this point of bitcoin history. Lambo and pumps seems a far memory now imo. Now it's time to use bitcoin for what it is and what Satoshi wanted. Just the new personal, pure, scarce Money.
Anyway guys tell me about how did you become a Bitcoiner, I found amazing in my real life: mechanics, ice cream shop owners, devs, artists, bank employee... I am curious to listen evey story...

There is only so much orange pilling bitcoiners can do through education and communication. Unfortunately, most of the orange pilling will be done by scammers, larger corporations and nation states, when these entities continue to rug people over and over again. In other words, real significant amount of adoption will happen when people are forced into bitcoin, when their wealth gets scammed away, or worse, taken / confiscated away.
It is true that interest drive bitcoin adoption, but necessity pushes bitcoin adoption into overdrive.
What we need to do is to make sure the system is ready to on board all these people when mass adoption due to necessity comes.

Yep! So true buddy.
All the actors that grows too much in the end become scammers. I know we need trade off in life, but this MUST be a rule. Sincerely I don't trust big players, also big thing like Strike in the end will be forced to cease data to government, no exit from this. I don't trust people becoming too big. We need to work and K(eep)I(t)S(mall) or at least not too big to become an enemy and not a friend. Do your revolution with the people around you, from the bottom. Satoshi did it right! Never forget this!

As for me, i think we should focus more on teaching Women. If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a women you educate a family(Nation). And we should try teaching all the women in every families.🟠🟣⚡️📖🫡 🐐

I've been officially unemployed for years, basically trying to find any form of income, started out with the apps that you play other apps on get points and cash out to PayPal, they were slow but legit, eventually stumbled into conceal and chia, thoes are interesting, and after watching a bunch of tiktok I found my way into ZBD via bitcoin miner, still stumbling around the aspects of bitcoin and crypto, also testing to see what I can bipass and get away with, currently waiting on a chunk of coin to try and see if I can avoid coinbases fee to fiat

  1. We need to maintain self-custody as an ideal while understanding that it will not be an option for the vast majority of people. If 100M people insist on self-custody
and the rest use various custodial services, that's okay. Sure, some custodians will misbehave but the barriers to entry will be lower so there will be more custodians, and any damage will be limited. Someone who has a significant amount of wealth in BTC terms will still self-custody. Someone in a developing country probably won't, but having money that can't be debased, even with counterparty risk, will help such a person improve his life and the life of his community to the point where self-custody might make sense eventually.
  2. Focus on the benefits of bitcoin, not the details. Most people don't know what TCP/IP is. Or FedWire for that matter. Secure, immutable, uninflatable. People understand that.
  3. We need easy onboarding options. Social media is a good starting point. SN is a great example but it's geared towards people who are already interested in bitcoin. If it can expand to include people who care about cars, gardening, etc, adoption will take off.

Agree 100% on all three points, I tend to be a super self custody sponsor, but reality is different, we have to onboarda more and more people.
Superagree on third point, media created a distraction with speculation, happy for crypto millionaires for sure, but to be quoted as 1,10,10k,100k or 1M $ is nothing that should interest us now. We have to onboard frictionless and also people with small donations to make them understand what bitcoin is.
