That sounds really cool! I tried a lot of stuff already without much or only temporary success and I would try something like this.
However, how would you make sure that people really hit their habit goals and not just cheat/lie? Are you thinking about a custodial solution? Then you would still need to trust people to not lie.
However, you can of course just assume people are honest since they are only lying to themselves more or less.
Maybe this "explicit lie" is already enough to make people actually change their habits.
Thank you! I will share the website in here once I've successfully built a prototype. I thought about having people wager against each other to complete their habits, but to your point there is no great way to convince people not to lie in order to win the sats. Nothing is stopping someone from just opening the app and pretending they completed the habit but if it's just for themselves then they will know they are lying and I think since someone took the time to create an escrow account to hold themselves accountable for that habit they are more likely to either complete the habit or have the sats go to charity. Even if they do lie no one gets hurt since it was a deal someone made with themselves
