Yeah, they are actually and some of the Blockchains are way ahead of the Bitcoin Blockchain also. Especially the ones that confirm and are not reversible instantly or almost instantly and don't cost me more than half a penny to transact.. this is where Bitcoin falls behind which is why lightning implementation is so fucking vital to the success of Bitcoin as a whole.
