Indeed you don't get your own IP unless you set the server up that way.
Youll have to ask allyourbank about the ovpn/wireguard thing, I'm not sure what the reasoning was. The server side is pivpn/based, which supports both
I think it's in the interest of being flexible

Understand the desire for flexibility, but it would be nice to be able to use only wireguard if you want, only OpenVPN, or both. Maybe you can do that and I just missed it?

You can choose whichever you want, OpenVPN or WireGuard. Check out the screenshots of the menus.
