When thinking about the flow of information through society, it is easiest for me to picture a bottle neck. On one side, there is reality, on the other a person’s worldview, with governments/intelligence agencies being the actual neck of the bottle. Moving from one side to the other means passing through one of the biggest and most elaborate systems of information control.

But before we get into government propaganda, we must first understand reality in its ultimate form.

Reality is defined as the sum total of everything that exists, encompassing physical objects, events, and laws of nature independent of human perception. Truly comprehending reality means understanding everything that has happened, and the results of those events today. In its pure form, reality cannot be fully understood by a single human, our brains are simply not powerful enough.

We cope by forming our own interpretation. Learning from our past experiences, we make decisions and hold beliefs that will best serve us; We make decisions based on the information we possess now.

This is how a society can be controlled. Controlling information can make “reality” what best serves those in power. The internet has made shaping reality quite easy. Most consume media without a second thought of what the underlying agenda could be. Propaganda is now taken as fact, with some going as far as to argue on behalf of it.

There are systems in place that prohibit the flow of information, some by design, some as a side effect. Whether justified or not, this prohibition means putting power and resources in the hands of a few, which never ends well. When information is hoarded, it creates imbalance, tipping the scales in favor of one side. Chaos is a natural byproduct of this imbalance.

Conversely, information, in its natural and free-flowing form, can rid the word of poverty and inequality. When humanity interacts on a level playing field, prosperity ensues.

Information can liberate, but also enslave, as with any truly powerful force in the known universe.

We must take the first step by recognizing the value in sharing our knowledge with others. We live in a time when information can be shared across thousands of miles with the snap of a finger. We must circumvent the control systems in place by understanding that without our participation, the system fails.

To steal from Kennedy, ask not what the Universe can do for you, but what you can do for the Universe. We are all on this ride together, might as well make it fun.

What are your thoughts? Am I out of touch? I know intelligence agencies, IP, and general competition play an important role in society. But in my opinion, it has gone way too far. It is time for a change, and that change starts with us.

This is where my mind has been the past week or so and ultimately why I decided on returning to SN to contribute. The Universe has blessed me with Bitcoin and the matrix breaking truth it showed me, and that has then led me to literally reconnecting to the Universe / Earth by simply physically touching Earth which then has led me to receiving the energy to truly grow, and now I'm here asking the exact question, "What can I do for the Universe?"

As this is how the Universe's energy is meant to flow. Receive > transform > give back

In terms of information, I personally limit my day to day amount of consumption because I've realized I'm more interested in the truth and the Universe's knowledge instead of consuming the novel or stimulating. I'm a year into regularly connecting to Earth and it's abundance through grounding, and what I've learned from that year has been infinitely more abundant and meaningful than all the information, acadamia, and education I've received in the entirety of my life.

Don't know if this adds anything to what you intended out of this post but felt compelled to comment.

It adds a ton.

I get the impression you have more to share. Let's play out a hypothetical situation.

A person who is deeply entrenched in the matrix shows a video, or reads a tweet, from a politician that has enraged them. They go off on a tangent about how dangerous a political party has become (the usual stuff we hear from those that "follow" politics).

What are you saying to this person? Pretend they will actually listen to you for more than 3 seconds without interrupting.

What are your thoughts?

I think you're mostly preaching to the choir here. You treat your points as axioms, and most people, bitcoiners especially, would agree with you in the general case:

  1. information control is a form of power
  2. information, when free, makes things better

So there's not much to chew on or discuss here for me.

Appreciate the feedback. I wanted to keep the post short and to the point, so not surprised to hear this.

I would push back a little by saying I do not think most people agree. From what I see on social media, most people consume media with very little consideration of where it comes from and what agenda is behind it.

Having examples like that would help readers understand why you’re saying what you’re saying. I know what you’re saying but without such context, I don’t know what’s motivating you and how to help/add something helpful.

reply

Gotcha. Very helpful.

Only motivation is to spark debate and get people thinking.
