Same! I watched some video about it being the natural resting position for people back in the day and in many Southeast Asian countries but my ankle mobility wouldn't allow me to get down that far so I started working on it with the stuff in the video until now it's easy.

This is how I developed my deep squat. I read about it as a superior alternative to sitting on the ground or squatting down on your toes.
Once my hips got accustomed to it, I could just sit in that deep squat pretty much indefinitely.
