I think that overall, US and EU are much alike. Neither are perfect. The differences are bigger in the narratives of those that seek to divide, than those that actually lived on both sides of the Atlantic.
You can find what you seek on either side, I think, and you can live a good life. In the end it's all about what you do with it.

no doubt, but you could say the same for China too. You can build a good life in China - a really good one, as long as you know when to keep your head down and your mouth shut.
The organization has its own biases. They are pro enforcement of "anti corruption" legislation, for instance.

Why is the EU more free than the US? I thought they have a lot stricter business and speech regulations.
