Nearly three-quarters of undersea fiber-optic internet cables would need to fail before Bitcoin sees major disruption, according to a Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance study released this year.

In a paper first published in February and revised March 12, researchers Wenbin Wu and Alexander Neumueller analyzed Bitcoin P2P network data from 2014 to 2025 alongside 68 verified subsea cable fault events.

Thanks! I didn't like the version before this - somehow it was underperforming for what I needed it for (tested it in February for production use). Will report back when I get a moment/case to check it out for something real. If it's really so much better than GPT-OSS-120B, @bitcoinplebdev may have a potential new fav open source model.

Exactly, so I don't think at all that it is too good to be true. Just it's not 1 query to chatgpt, 1 query to alpha fold, pay $3k, done. So you have to commit to it and navigate a really complex material, be smart enough to validate what the models say, make choices, understand the subject matter. I feel that there's downplay on these things in popular narratives out there.

But, yes. Much things are in reach now.

any bugz?

reply

Well, when I write

- Point 1
  - Point 1.a
  - Point 1.b
- Point 2

and I go to compose and back to write, it becomes

* Point 1

  * Point 1.a
  * Point 1.b
* Point 2

which to me less aesthetic!

yup https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/issues/2860

Our bi-directional pipeline allows for lossless structure translation, but it has its own opinions when it comes to markdown serialization.

We can probably store the markdown syntax style on each rich node, for example:

- Point 1
  - Point 1.a
  * Point 1.b
* Point 2

can be translated to these rich nodes:

ListItem
  - Text: Point 1
  - Markdown: DASH
	  - ListItem
	    - Text: Point 1.a
	    - Markdown: DASH
	  - ListItem
      - Text: Point 1.b
      - Markdown: STAR
ListItem
  - Text: Point 2
  - Markdown: STAR
reply

* this way, going back to write, we already know what marker style we need to use.

my guts is telling me that SN team is silently deploying some clankers "to make more traffic"...
But that will be the end of SN unfortunately.

  1. I think k00b hates clankers more than I do, so I really doubt that.
  2. These clankers are lame af - I think team is much more competent than the shit we see.

I said "SN team" not k00b specifically.

reply

There are 3 people in the core SN team. Scoresby, sox, and me. None of us like clankers. We aren't retarded.

I'm happy with SN just being me, Scoresby, and sox hanging out here and discussing random things and doing weird bitcoin stuff if that's all that SN amounts to. Of course, SN is already more than that, and I want SN to grow and I think it will grow, but I have no interest in pretending that SN is growing in the meantime.

Clankers are an attack. Anyone deploying them here, especially in the way where they pretend they are human, are anti-SN.

reply

You know what am I talking about... the "team" is not just the 3 guys maintaining the code.

the "team" is not just the 3 guys maintaining the code.

Darth, with the same logic then you're part of the "team", too.

I can assure you that this is cause and effect:

  • cause: openclaw/molt/whatever hype
  • effect: random bots online

who else are you saying is on the "SN team"?
