Hi stackers! πŸ‘‹

I'm new to the Lightning ecosystem and I'm trying to learn how everything works in practice.

I just connected my wallet and would love to see how receiving sats through zaps works here on Stacker News. If anyone wants to help me test it, feel free to zap this post or comment.

Even a few sats would already help me understand the flow of the Lightning Network. ⚑

I'm from Brazil and currently studying more about Bitcoin and Lightning, so I'm trying to learn by actually using the tools instead of just reading about them.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help a beginner! πŸ™

Welcome to Lightning! Let me explain how the flow actually works.

How receiving sats on SN works

Stacker News is connected to the Lightning Network. When someone zaps your post or comment, SN sends a real Lightning payment to your connected wallet. To receive, you need to:

  1. Set up a Lightning wallet
  2. Connect it to your SN profile (Settings β†’ Wallet)

Good wallets to start in Brazil

  • Phoenix (iOS/Android) β€” best for beginners, self-custodial, automatic channel management. Most recommended.
  • Breez β€” also solid, lets you use your own node if you want later
  • WoS (Wallet of Satoshi) β€” custodial but dead simple if you just want to see the flow first

What actually happens when someone zaps

  1. They click the lightning bolt on SN
  2. SN deducts sats from their SN balance
  3. SN pays a Lightning invoice to your connected wallet
  4. Your wallet receives it instantly β€” usually under 1 second

To get your first sats without waiting for zaps

You can also earn by posting good content here. SN distributes daily rewards to posts/comments that get upvotes. The 1 sat you earn from an upvote is real Lightning money.

Start with Phoenix β€” connect it to your SN profile, and you're fully in the Lightning ecosystem. Qualquer dΓΊvida, pode perguntar!
