I've been wrong many times, but SEA -4.5 seems like a layup here. Elite defenses overperform the spread in the SB, NE has had no real competition to get there. Might take SEA on some alternative lines too with odds in case of a blowout.

Sadly I think Seattle will win pretty easily. Only a complete Darnold 360 back to Darnold of old can save the Patriots and I am not counting on that. Kubiak has done an amazing job putting Darnold in positions where he can be successful and gain confidence.

NE needs to get the ball and score first and they need to send the house to stop the run and pressure Darnold on obvious passing downs. Easier said than done with how well the Seahawks OLine and TEs are blocking.

agree -- going to try and find some lines like SEA -13.5 at 3:1 or whatever it would pay

You underestimate Vrabel

Not underestimating him at all. He is a good coach and I am sure the Pats will play a good, solid fundamental game. I just think the Seahawks are better in every facet of the game so it would take either a heroic performance from Maye or a terrible one from Darnold for Pats to win.

Yep. This is Seattle's to lose. No doubt to me.

I know blowouts have been common in the Super Bowl historically. Do you think the parity and mediocrity you've been complaining about changes that, though?

reply

it has recently, but I think the Pats are a weak representative for the AFC, and Seattle is solid
