I am not surprised they skewed independent. They are likely either not interested in politics or don't care to share their preferences.

I think the privacy piece is the answer. I’ve heard that they vote Republican far more frequently than you’d expect, if you were just going off of their public statements.

You know who hates taxes the most? Me…but after me it’s people with money.

About half of USA tax filers pay no federal income tax so an increase in spending doesn't hurt them

It makes sense that they wouldn't want people to be able to box them into a corner so to speak politically. That being said some of them like less than 10% of NHL players being registered Democrats does surprise me given the locations and the outreach the league does with only a few Russian players pushing back on it.
