I made nice progress on being more active, but no progress at all on being less fat. I blame that on my dad bringing over a final tin of Christmas cookies that he had hidden away somewhere.

How are you all doing on those New Year's resolutions?

Good Job on the activity.

You can't out train a bad diet so make it a rule that you have to eat a handful of broccoli before you can have any sweets.

I generally do fine on my intake of healthy food.

The problem is that I also intake too much junk food, if it’s around me. I usually avoid having it around but that’s harder around the holidays.

Do you have abs?

reply

Oddly enough, I’ve never had well-defined abs. Even when I was extremely active and very fit.

It sounds to me like a problem isn't necessarily too much junk food but rather too many calories in general if you are eating mostly healthy.

I've had a lot of clients join my program and discover that they were eating their salads with too many calories tracking their food in the Proof of Work Fitness app.

It could definitely help to track what you're doing for 3 to 14 days to give you enough data to make adjustments.

reply

I’ll do that if my progress stalls out.

One thing that has worked well for me in the past is filling up on a big healthy meal in the afternoon and then not eating again for the rest of the day.
