I'm not saying I agree with the video, but digital ids aren't definitely better for censorship resistance. If it's digital then the ux of verifying your id is better and it's more ubiquitous. Unless the system is designed to be private (zk of some kind would be required I imagine), cryptographic ids will make things worse.

Why wouldn't an AI persona be able to present "cryptographic evidence" claiming it is real? Having some sort of public-private keypair isn't going to really prove anything....

If this was a govt conspiracy, it seems far more likely that the goal is in fact to make everything unknowable. There is just as much power in making every single thing in society unknowable as there is in instituting some "digital ID" solution.
