The big point in this article is that hydrogen peroxide is not good for wounds, which turns out to be an old myth we all grew up with.

“Hydrogen peroxide has fallen out of favor as a wound cleanser,” Dr. Beers says. “Studies have found that it irritates the skin. It may prevent the wound from healing, doing more harm than good.”

Goddammit, I just poured a bunch of this on a cut my kid got yesterday. Thanks for posting this!

It is not for healing. It is for desinfection. Nothing wrong with using it once in low concentration to wash some dirt out. I remember pure alcohol for cleaning wounds. Hurt a lot more.

Yeah, my parents used yo use whatever was handy -- rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or vodka. I remember my dad telling me that urine was a disinfectant, but thankfully that never happened.

As child, any time I got cut or had a sore my mom’s go to was always hydrogen peroxide.Makes me question a lot of other things my mom thought me. As an adult I don’t use it anymore and my wounds heal quite fast and easy. So the article might be right.
