Nice share by @winteryeti that I missed yesterday on the importance of introducing babies to peanuts early on to actually improve their chances of not developing a peanut allergy: #1359224.

I didnโ€™t use the preview these days, could be this change but IX feels more smooth. I donโ€™t know what it is. Anyway, appreciate that you share this update note.

Starting with the new editor, we're trying new efficient ways to load a lot of posts/comments at the same time rather than doing multiple operations.

It seems like it's working great for now!

The TA-guru playbook, make sure he's right either way:

  • if indeed Bitcoin fiat value crashes in the next few months, he will claim it validates his claim that everyone is dumping coz of people not taking the quantum threat seriously...
  • if it doesn't crash, he can say that he singlehandedly saved Bitcoin with his quantum threat manifestos~~

ngl when backtesting no trust and the results are weird. vibe feels off.

reply

Are you able to describe what feels off more specifically?

reply
0 sats \ 0 replies \ @k00b 9h

It's subtle enough that I can't describe it. It feels kind of cold I guess. Kind of like how a hotel feels vs someone's house. It could merely be agitating my consistency bias though.

Originally I was using a 12 hour half-life, but ramped it up to 4 and that helped things. That's the only real lever I have now.

There is something nice about it too though. Zapping is a level playing field. So I think if/when we reintroduce trust we'll create a less significant trust gap (no haves and have nots). We won't do log transforms (which favors sybils) and give everyone meaningful trust on day 1, then highly trusted people can maybe earn twice as much trust as a new account over time.

That will leave rewards exposed to sybils (more accounts are better and all have trust) but I sense I can figure out an alternative reward system.

Do you see Bitcoin Lightning only for payments or do you also see it as useful for holding small amounts?

reply
51 sats \ 1 reply \ @DarthCoin 19h

If those small amounts are in a lndhub/nwc account run by a friend with a LN bank, then yes. Otherwise no, LN is mostly for payments. Consider your LN channels as your regular pockets with cash, for day to day spending.

Let's be clear, if you are not going to use your sats to receive or make payments, DO NOT OPEN LN CHANNELS. Is simple like that.

If you are receiving more thhan you spend, is also simple: once you fill up your LN channels, empy them using a swap to onchain. Then repeat.

If you are spending more than you receive, again, once are emptied, refill them using a swap, This is all you do with LN. LN is THE PAYMENT NETWORK. You do not keep those sats forever in a dormant LN channel.

Thank you for the explanation. Those details are important.

Awesome.

Also I think the trading card marketplace could be a huge hit. eBay charges 13%! If you can beat that the trading card marketplace could come over in droves

i agree, it's also a much younger demographic who will be way easier to onboard to an app like plunda.

im currently content to keep things very small and off the radar, i feel like things are kinda in stealth mode right now. thatll only last a little while longer though, while i build out a few more core pieces of the app. early next year will ahift gears and focus on the actual business operations, customer growth and logistics side of things.

absolutely no reason i can't get trading cards up and running within a week or two when the time comes!

Anyone else started too many things at once?

Probably, but the nice thing is that this way you'll never be bored. Commitments is different of course.

I generally just let things sit and if I never touch it again, fine too. If overwhelmed, do something else for half a day or so (or sleep), and then make decisions on what to prioritize. Can always adjust.

...

I had an incredibly disturbing dream recently enough that I still remember what was bothersome about it, despite not lingering on it immediately after waking. As tension mounted, I was in some large cafeteria/mess-hall-like space, occupied only by strangers. There was some tricky business afoot of people maneuvering to keep line of sight to tables or people that they were spying on. I stopped focusing on whichever other table had interested me, realising that someone was probably spying on me, and began scanning to figure out about whom I should be worried. I noticed one person rise and anticipated his path towards my table, although as he approached one of the tables between us, someone rose suddenly and began walking obliquely towards my table in a way that blocked the path. Disturbed by the realisation that the politics and alignments mess was much more complicated than I had previously understood, I awoke, deeply disturbed.
