Undoubtedly China is still a lot more autocratic and oppressive to citizens and visitors than USA, but they way things are trending...the contrast is less and less. US used to have slavery and still relies upon military stand over tactics over the rest of the world and its legacy exceptional privilege of holding the petrodollar issuance and SWIFT hegemony - even if US military is now a headless chicken with no rare earths supply and the petrodollar is increasingly redundant...as China is now where the Saudis sell most of their oil and Iran and Russia already direct almost all of their oil to China. Venezuela headed that way too- can Trump wrest Venezuela from Chinese sphere? This will be interesting as Venezuela is in the traditional US sphere and if China retains it then the US is absolutely humiliated and demonstably would not be able to even retain regional hegemony. China is simply the bigger market in most commodities and manufactured goods because USA cannot manufacture much competitively anymore. You might want to study some history to see how this works. Wealth and power deliver increased 'rights' and freedoms to citizens- usually at the expense of the nations and cultures they subjugate. Or just learn the hard way as those who do not learn from history tend to do...
