Any hints about what's going on? I received this message about a failed LN transaction:
Latest lightning error: Unknown payout error
Raw error: cln err code: 205 - message Failed: Could not find route without excessive cost
Yes, I had plenty of liquidity. I also receive payments from this party regularly. So, I cant see it really being a routing issue. No, they don't have a public node to which I can open a channel, which would solve issues.

Just because you have enough inbound liquidity doesn’t mean there’s a cheap route to your node

Yes, I know. It just seems weird because we transact almost daily, none of my channels are offline, and this hasn't occurred before. I guess it's just one of those things?

Could it be that the payment was very small, so the fee ends up being relatively high? Like if they’re trying to send you 10 sats, the fee itself might be 10 sats or something.

I thought of that, but this transaction is the most sats ever between , or at least close. I don't know. It's also weird that they have stopped trying to resend. It sounds fishy, but they are a big company.

Maybe their Knots node doesn't handle lightning well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Sorry, I don't really believe that, just thought it would be funny. Whatever you run for onchain shouldn't affect routing on lightning afaik.)

You might be right😀 I'm sure you guessed the company. I just heard back from them. They said it is not a liquidity issue, as I knew, but that my peers are asking too high fees. Here is their solution:
If possible ask your peers to lower their fees.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll listen to me 😀

lol, are they not deducting the routing fee from what they send you?
So if you put more of your own nodes between them and your recipient node, you can earn routing fees, also called a fee-siphoning attack?

Yes. If I had time for this, I would currently be man-in-the-middle siphoning between SN and specific custodial wallets with low ppm but high fixed, simply due to all the ad hominem about horse icons.
