A few months ago, I heard Square was letting users accept bitcoin for CC payments right in time to take a payment that I do every year in which the client normally asks for CC payment and I usually say no. It was fate. I frantically set up Square, took the CC deposit and then the final payment a month later, all with my 50% allocated in bitcoin. Yay!
Well NOW, I'm trying to shill these coasters on people through the @AGORA on stacker news and nuked my BTCPay Server on accident right when I wanted to start selling. Today, I'm lamenting the bad timing and figure, "hey! I bet I could use Square." So, I quickly change my Square store name to my nym and make these cute little POSs (POSes, POS, what's the plural of POS?):
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make these things accept bitcoin! I've activated bitcoin payments in Square. I've looked over the FAQs (which by the way are great for noobs), but none of them seem to address this issue. Am I missing something? Does anyone here use Square? Did Square already about face on the bitcoin thing?
Specifically, I'm asking why no bitcoin payment option shows up here. Does anyone know? Is it maybe only with their hardware options that people can pay in bitcoin?

IIRC it's for merchants in the US only?

Oh hey! I love what you do, by the way. We used your postcard service a bit when we were overseas earlier this year. I gotta remember to do it now with our friends back there!

Thanks! Unfortunately, I've already got that part up and running. My question is, how do I get my point of sale to accept bitcoin so people can pay with it?

What generation is your Square terminal? I still have a v1 and was disappointed to learn that it doesn't support Bitcoin payments. (I too was able to activate it, but not use it).

So this might be my problem. I actually don’t have any of their hardware. I’ve only used the service to send invoices for CC payments but saw that you can make a payment link and thought that I’d be able to accept bitcoin that way.
So are you planing on upgrading your hardware? Sounds like it’s a more integral part of your business.

No upgrade in the immediate future. I don't have the budget for a new register (usually $799, currently on sale for $599). I'll reevaluate if there's customer demand.
