A colleague and I used to joke that in corporate software development, the more senior you become, the less you use development software: start with eclipse, end with having a PA that reads your email for you. But in FOSS, the more senior you become, the more tools you use: start with your browser, end with gdb/valgrind/your_custom_repo_of_bash_tools.
