I won't take sides here, but for a while I had a "privilege" to work in IT for a chemical company that was a major provider of "certain components" to Campbell. Let's put it this way, they can make you taste whatever you want (or they want) on whatever product. There were days that I wanted to lick the walls because they smelled so good...lol In the humble opinion of this "internet warrior" it's all about tiny signals in the brain that makes you think "damn this is a great tasting chicken/beef/turkey etc. insert name", and the way they do that is (you guessed it) the chemicals and your taste/smell receptors in your tongue/nose. Shortly thereafter I started cooking my own meals , as much as I could of course. I do have some fast food at times but mass produced food is rarely good for ya, it is cheap but there is your choice, plus "nobody gotta time for that" is the factor as well. I wondered for many years why GrandMa always stayed home and cooked all day, now I know :-)
