Laptops are highly subjective so I have 3 recommendations. If you're on a budget, Thinkpad T series are great. [You can find them on eBay](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=thinkpad+T14) super cheap, or pay a little more for more processor/RAM/etc. I have 2 of them and they're pretty good for general purpose use. For me that's browsing the web, doing light video editing, and making simple games. They have a magnesium frame which is durable and lightweight.

If you want something more performant for games, I've always been happy with System76 products. I had a super powerful Bonobo WS for years and loved it. https://system76.com/laptops.

Finally, there's https://frame.work/ which is cool and trendy. I haven't personally tried them but I like that they're repairable.
