We are still early. Here is an example of how people's ignorance is also a "protection". I put 1BTC in a wallet seed and hide it in a plastic recipient, behind that rock. The rock is located on a mountain trail that is quite transited by hikers. After almost 10 years that wallet is still there. I periodically check it in.
I am very confident in my capacity of hiding a seed in plain sight. I never lost any sat.

Its funny and easy to mock but this is already happening and plenty of people want this.
This is why I don't really try that hard to sell most people on bitcoin. I can't save them. They don't want to be responsible for their wealth. They can't even manage to secure their passwords.
