Whatever happened to the once Strong, Proud, and Brave Bitcoin Community? If "one" bad image (whatever that means) or one "classified document" (remember WikiLeaks???) gets into the chain (which was possible way before Core v30) then the entire chain has to be rolled back? Forked? Really?
Because of what Elizabeth Warren thinks? Or CNN?
Certain 'influencers' and even people I once respected in Bitcoin can't wait to talk about the "attack vectors" and the "government operation" to "ruin Bitcoin" and so on and so forth...
Because EvErYtHiNg Is An Op...
BUT the Truth?
THIS is it. ONE sat per vbyte. Among 200 million companies, 8 billion people, on 7 continents.
If the people fearmongering about the "corruption" and "evil" and "stupidity" of software developers [who work VERY hard]... spent 1% as much time ACTUALLY USING BITCOIN we wouldn't be having the "SPAM" problems. SPAM would be 99% IRRELEVANT.
OLD Bitcoiners sent money to Wikileaks. They said
  • F*** the Banks
  • F*** the Government
  • F*** the Fed
  • Not your keys Not your coins
And now? WELL if CNN doesn't like Bitcoin then it EFFECTS THE PRICE AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT WHAT in the ACTUAL F***.
Is Bitcoin censorship resistant or not? Is it "freedom money" or not? And if it IS... then people will use it. They won't bitch and moan about a small amount of spam that has disappeared 99%... they will be too busy USING Bitcoin BECAUSE IT IS MONEY and "THE BEST"
Bitcoin Users use Bitcoin. They are too busy using it to care about much else.
To the contrary SOME "Bitcoin users" (more like LARPERS) think that "JPEGS will kill it" or "one image" in a permissionless database usable by ANYONE on the planet... means "it can't work."
Is it money for FREEDOM? Or money for PUSSIES?
The lack of heart, guts, and fee pressure from statist larpers isn't good and most of these people will get rekt following a technically-incoherent hard fork pushed by people who aren't who they say they are and have possibly ulterior motives.
A sad day for freedom and a sad day for Satoshi's creation.

This makes a lot of sense to me. Censorship resistance is the only value proposition of Bitcoin. If it can't do that well, then it's not going to be worth very much.
It may also imply that if people don't want censorship resistance, Bitcoin won't be worth very much.

The pussies in bitcoin are those that don't want to fight spam and defend the monetary use as the priority for bitcoin.
reply
Fighting spam isn't passive, it's active. Paying fees and outbidding spammers is the best way to keep Bitcoin monetary.
Users like me want to fight spam every chance we get... but we do that by paying fees and outbidding the spam.
reply
Not running core v30 helps more. Knots even better as well as mining with ocean too.
reply
If you 'filter' the spam from your own mempool, and therefore don't see it when it's time to estimate your fees and outbid...
How do you know how much to bid? How do you 'outbid the spam' if you can't see it in your own mempool?
reply
You can always use as many mempools as you wish.

Well said.

It's not a small amount of spam, and it has not disappeared. It will be on the blockchain forever.
Bitcoin is censorship-resistant money, not a censorship-resistant database. And it can't be both.
Research why the spam attack suddenly became possible after February 2023 and come to your own conclusions. You will soon see that the mempool is empty because of the spam attack.

wtf are you talking about, without money there would be no need for database, ever. The first database, the need for humans to write, its' because of money and exchange of value. People learn to do math before learning the alphabet. Study history, cry harder.

In my ignorance, I have not previously heard the argument that the mempool is empty because of spam. I'm curious how you connect those dots.
reply
The mempool isn't empty because of the spam attack. The mempool is empty because of the CGTaxes required by the state. And because "bitcoiners" somehow have gotten soft and lazy. And because people want change to happen without making any effort themselves.
If the blockchain was completely full... for months or years that data of financial transactions would be stored too, no? So blocks would be full anyway. In fact if it became the 'world reserve currency' of sorts blocks would be completely full and transactions expensive. Would you be happy then?
I always wanted to ask: which part specifically is the money? Is it the UTXO? The blocks? The various scripts? The private keys? The public keys? Relay policy? Which part is the Money? Maybe it's the ASICs that run all night and day?

The shift from Krater is alarming and has lost his viewership from me. He’s gone from peaceful and educational to red eyes holding a pitch fork.
