Wow, I guess my reference for time is terrible
There have been several close calls that were averted at the last minute, so you probably have seen lots of shutdown news this year.
Possibly. Pretty much my only source of news is SN though, aside from insane family members which I try to avoid
Oh, I think @Cje95 was writing about a shutdown during the winter. It didn't happen, but everyone was pretty sure it was going to.
That might line up then!
But for how long seems to be the interesting question
The biggest issue people are talking about now is how quickly the government could essentially be restarted lol. Cause if any changes are made by the Senate it’s likely that the House is going to struggle to pass it and if the Senate Dems continue to chose to keep operations idled well they would have to change their minds and bribing up votes ago take a few days if you are doing it according to procedure.
They could waive procedure it’s been done before but I want to say the Senate also is a 72 hour notice for votes like the House so that’s 3 days plus a weekend
Through the weekend seems inevitable but who blinks first after that?
Also, I’m very curious about the mass layoff wrinkle. You may recall that I thought that was the right move last time.
No, there hasn't been one since Trump was president the first time. That was the longest one ever, though.
