A little history: 2019 (Austin, TX)– The very first BTC++ was an intimate, code-heavy hackathon where legendary Bitcoin devs collaborated on Lightning Network tools and privacy tech.

2021 (Berlin) – Shifted towards multi-day workshops and talks, with strong focus on cross-layer Bitcoin smart contracts and integrating Rust development in Bitcoin ecosystems.

2022 (Austin again) – More than half the event was hackathon-style, resulting in open-source tools like LNlink and privacy-focused wallet plugins.

2023 (Berlin) – Went truly global; panels included cutting-edge covenants research, Bitcoin scripting proposals, and interactive Lightning gaming experiences.

Lesser-known fact: BTC++ has no corporate agenda – it’s entirely by and for Bitcoin devs, cypherpunks, and privacy advocates, often leading to actual code commits and working products during or shortly after the event...
