This power ranking is completely ridiculous. On what planet are the Steelers the 6th best team going into the season and the Lions 9th.
I for one love the fact that the mainstream sports media is happily dancing on the 49ers grave. I hope they keep it up, especially if the 49ers start slow.
Coaching and elite players matter but not according to the media. Re-signing a bunch of washed and perpetually hurt guys to insane contracts to keep your “window open” so the media doesn’t look stupid for picking you as a Super Bowl favourite last year when you went 6-11 is what matters.
Sure the 49ers could absolutely suck this year. They have a lot of rookies and a lack of depth. They could also be awesome and make the mainstream media look stupid again. At which point they will pretend like they had faith in the 49ers all along. Haha
However it all plays out, it’s going to be a fun season.
Sats for all, GR
This is completely accurate. Fox has done a great job.
reply
You think the Steelers are the 6th best team and Lions 9th? I think Steelers should be around 20 and Lions probably around 5.
reply
The Steelers being that high is a real head scratcher
reply
No, they have been the best team historically and even last year they went 10-3 to the final four games. I'm not a fan of them, yet I give some respect to historical data in sports.
reply
I have a ton of respect for the Steelers as a franchise. They have a great head coach and owners, but they will not be the 6th best team this year.
Feel free to offer a wager on this if you believe what you’re saying.
reply
I already have their 100k shares for my faith and 0 of 49ers, haha..
reply
Happy to bet with you that the 49ers will have a better record than the Steelers but you won't make that bet because you know it is a likely outcome. Instead you pump out your chest about 100k shares that you bought for 1200 sats. Huge conviction in the Steelers.
I say we bet 10k sats or 100k sats or even 1M sats whatever you prefer which ever team wins more games wins the bet. If both teams finish with the same record no one wins. Put your money where your mouth is for once.
reply
Things are getting heated 👀
Well I have about negative a million shares on the 49ers.
reply
They have the most Super Bowls tied with the Patriots but they have not been the best team historically. There are many teams with a higher all time winning percentage.
reply
I might have seen some wrong data but it says they have been the best team since 1970.
reply
That might be the case. Bears and Packers were pretty dominant in the 60s. Pre Super Bowl era.
reply
I looked at the schedule and it looks like 8-9 to me.
reply
The steelers are the best team historically and they will prove it again why. Lions on the other hand seems like a much improved team and can be the one dangerous to all. This is my personal analysis.
reply
You didn’t want to take my last bet. How about we bet that the Steelers won’t even finish on the top 10 in terms of record. 10k sats?
reply
I don't take the bets here. You're already playing against me on Predyx.
reply
Ok well I predict the Steelers finish 8-9.
reply
You'll find the reality very soon. 49ers will finish lower than steelers.
reply
Possible but probably not. Steelers have a tougher schedule than the 49ers. That alone should give the 49ers the edge. Not to mention they have a 42 year old QB who hasn’t been good since 2020.
I do like the Steelers defense and they have a very good coach so we will see.
Steelers definitely high
Saints should be last
Lions 5, GB 6
reply
I agree with that.
reply
I am so excited for the season to begin
reply
Tomorrow night. I already bet on the Cowboys and Chargers for Thursday and Friday so I am off to a great start losing my money in our bet every single game challenge.
reply
Nice! I haven’t made my bets for any games yet, but I’m definitely noodling on it. When should I make a post? Before the bulk of the games Sunday?
reply
Whenever you like.
reply
Did you get a ML profit boost from FanDuel today?
reply
I haven't looked today but I got some awesome no brainer boost for tomorrow's game where either team only has to rush for 1 yard. You can bet up to 20, which I did and you win 20. Wasn't as good as last year's where you could bet up to 50 and just needed mahomes to complete one pass or something like that.
reply
You definitely get different bonuses than I do haha
reply
Looks like they have a no sweat same game parlay for the Chargers and Chiefs Friday. I will definitely do that one. Do you have that? I don't have any ML profit boost.
Ooo, you're not gonna like this, @grayruby

Got it — here’s my own full 2025 NFL Power Rankings going into the season, based on rosters, coaching, recent performance, and upside.

🏈 2025 NFL Power Rankings

Tier 1: True Contenders (1–5)

  1. Philadelphia Eagles — Most complete roster in football, Jalen Hurts + AJ Brown + dominant O-line.
  2. Baltimore Ravens — Lamar Jackson is at his peak, elite defense, great coaching stability.
  3. Kansas City Chiefs — Mahomes keeps them here even with WR turnover; defense quietly strong.
  4. Buffalo Bills — Josh Allen still a top-tier QB, roster reloaded after cap crunch.
  5. Detroit Lions — Legit Super Bowl ceiling, Jared Goff steady, young defense rising.

Tier 2: Strong Playoff Teams (6–12)

  1. Green Bay Packers — Jordan Love + Micah Parsons addition = scary mix.
  2. Washington Commanders — Defense elite, offense balanced, but QB ceiling still TBD.
  3. Los Angeles Rams — Stafford + Kupp + McVay always keep them competitive.
  4. Minnesota Vikings — Offensive firepower, but defense keeps them just below elite.
  5. Cincinnati Bengals — Burrow is elite, but O-line and defensive depth remain questions.
  6. Los Angeles Chargers — Herbert is a star, new coaching staff may unlock them.
  7. Denver Broncos — Much-improved roster, playoff-caliber defense.

Tier 3: Fringe Playoff / Wildcard Teams (13–20)

  1. Houston Texans — Stroud + weapons = dangerous, but young roster may be inconsistent.
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Solid but limited ceiling; defense keeps them competitive.
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers — Always tough, but QB situation caps upside.
  4. Seattle Seahawks — Talented skill players, but QB inconsistency is a hurdle.
  5. Miami Dolphins — Explosive offense, but durability + defense are big concerns.
  6. Atlanta Falcons — Physical roster, but QB play keeps them mid-tier.
  7. San Francisco 49ers — Talent remains, but post-Shanahan transition & QB issues drag them down.
  8. Indianapolis Colts — Richardson’s development is key; sneaky wildcard potential.

Tier 4: Rebuilding but Competitive (21–27)

  1. Arizona Cardinals — Kyler + improved roster; still a step away from contending.
  2. Chicago Bears — Roster getting better, but still lacking stability at QB/HC.
  3. New Orleans Saints — Roster aging, lacking QB play to rise higher.
  4. New York Jets — Defense is strong, but QB situation remains a disaster.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars — Trevor Lawrence’s regression is concerning; supporting cast thin.
  6. Carolina Panthers — Bryce Young growing pains, but flashes are there.
  7. New England Patriots — Still rebuilding, young talent but very raw.

Tier 5: Basement Dwellers (28–32)

  1. Cleveland Browns — Reset in full swing, roster stripped down, long road ahead.
  2. Tennessee Titans — No clear QB solution, roster talent dropping.
  3. Las Vegas Raiders — Dysfunction + lack of direction = bottom tier.
  4. New York Giants — Offensive line & QB situation remain major problems.
  5. Houston Texans? — correction—Wait, I already ranked them at #13. Let’s fix this: 32. Jacksonville Jaguars — heavy regression, roster gutted, Lawrence question marks.

Summary:
  • Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, Lions are the clear top 5.
  • Packers, Commanders, Rams make up the next tier.
  • Browns, Titans, Raiders, Giants, Jaguars round out the league’s bottom.

reply
Post Shanahan transition? Shanahan is still the coach.
QB issues? What is this crap? AI?
Brock Purdy has been one of the top QBs in the league since he took the starters job and Mac Jones might be the best backup QB in the NFL.
This reasoning is utterly ridiculous.
reply
haha, yeah, it's AI... sorry!
reply
On top of that the Commanders don’t have an elite defense. Kupp is no longer with the Rams. Bears HC and QB are stable. It put the Texans 13 and 32 and then corrected itself by putting the Jaguar 25th and 32nd. It completely forgot the Cowboys.
Complete mess
reply
Didn't even notice that. Guess they mentioned Jacksonville twice.
Two jobs not in danger of AI replacement: sports analysts and ascii artists.
reply
I’d have the Seahawks above them lol
Surprised the media likes the cards at 14
reply
You are very bearish on the 49ers. You either listen to too much mainstream sports media or you don’t understand how the 49ers built the super team they had, how they are doing it again, how well they identify mid and late round talent that other teams miss and how good a coaching duo of Shanahan and Saleh are. Sure the roster has experienced a lot of turnover and the retool is nowhere near done but you are really discounting the value of having a top 5 coaching duo and a roster littered with all pros. I do think the Cards and Seahawks have gotten better and are building well. I think an argument could be made that the Rams are currently better than the 49ers if Stafford is healthy but he is not. We have to see what that looks like. He was good last year but already starting to show his age and now he has a jacked up back?
The 49ers season could absolutely go all wrong but heading into the season they should be ahead of all West teams. Which is where Vegas has them.
reply
My hatred is rooted in jealousy lol.
If mcaffery returns to 2023 form you’ll be scary. If not I think they could very well miss the playoffs with how many injuries you’re dealing with and natural age regression of certain guys
reply
With that being said I’ll bet you 10k sats the cards finish with a better W-L record than the 9ers this year @grayruby
If they tie we can call it a draw and the bets nullified?
reply
Sure. Sounds good. I think the Cards are going to finish 2nd. I don't believe Stafford's back will hold up and I don't believe in Sam Darnold without the Vikings OLine and weapons at all. I think the Seahawks defense is good though and ultimately any team in the division could win it if things break right for them and things break wrong for the other teams.
I think tomorrow I will rank the division by every position group and see how it shakes out. That will be a fun exercise.
reply
Shanahan and Saleh
Exactly
reply
I'm also kinda surprised to see ATL so low. I don't think they crack top 10 or anything, but 25 feels low. Maybe because MPJ is still pretty green?
reply
I think ATL could be sneaky good this year.
reply
They played well after making the change at QB
reply
I am not crazy about their defense but that offense could be really good.
reply
Hey I need the Steelers to win week 1!
reply
They will win week 1.
reply
@HardMoney Justin Fields Revenge game 😆

reply
Fox is also “Fake News!”
reply
I always prefer to have my teams underestimated than overhyped.
reply
This is true.
reply
I also don't understand how the steelers can be number 6 right now.
reply
They are likely the third best team in their division so that's not a great starting point.
