work is how luck manifests itself
nobody cares how hard you work
results are all that matter
play games where you have an edge
size your bets so you don't go broke
play enough games and, statistically,
the results will look like luck in hindsight
the game doesn't play itself on your behalf
you have to put in the "work" to actualize each result
"Hard" is subjective. Read for example @Car's comment re: a former OpenAI employee proclaiming that 7 weeks of 7-midnight was the hardest they worked in a decade.
work is a prerequisite to success. If you don't work for it, it won't feel as success
Luck can be a factor, but the more important is persistence.
Luck will move you either way, but when if turns against you and you fail you can learn and improve. Then, when luck favors you, you'll be even better. However, if you give up, i.e. you don't do any work anymore, then luck will not move your success: you stopped working on it.
First showing up and and being consistent everyday is the bare minimum for Luck.
Now to increase that you need to work hard.
To increase it even further it helps to be talented or have vision/a sense of direction. Having both is preferable.
To increase it even further it helps be well networked.
To increase it even further it helps to be well liked.
To increase it even further it helps to have money.
To increase it even further it helps finally to be patient and wait your turn.
In Eastern philosophy, luck is not considered a matter of chance. It is like when you help those around you, and at some point, they come back to support you in return. Hard work and perseverance are the necessary factors, while luck is the sufficient one. When both come together, we can reach our goals faster.

I'd say work. Rationale:
Luck will move you either way, but when if turns against you and you fail you can learn and improve. Then, when luck favors you, you'll be even better. However, if you give up, i.e. you don't do any work anymore, then luck will not move your success: you stopped working on it.
Thanks for taking your time to explain this, it's really impactful.
i would say luck might play more of a factor, but by working hard and showing up, you can stack the deck in your favour i think
Some would say working hard is increasing your number of dice rolls... or hashrate.
More chances to get lucky
Thank you!

Have a hodgepodge of ways to think through this.
🍀My mindset on Luck.
