I think I will join your journey by posting something from each of the sections you've read.
Genesis 15:6 says "And Abram believed the Lord and it was counted to him as righteousness." God then proceeds to seal the covenant unilaterally by walking through the cut animals while Abram slept. Paul references this event in Romans 4:3, thus showing that salvation through Christ is a unilateral act of God, one that is received by faith in the heart of the believer, and not through any works of their own.

Exactly!
The author of Hebrews also make it pretty clear that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone. In their (Abraham, Moses, etc) case, faith in the the Messiah who was to come.
