Is it just me or have we fully jumped the shark on redesign outrage? I like Cracker Barrel and all but I've seen some pretty dumb "titles" on platforms about this. This is the first post I've actually clicked through on.
This new logo sucks compared to the old.
I have no idea who did this or why they felt the need to revamp they branding but my guess is that some consultants told them their core based of customers are dying off. They need to adjust to a younger demographic. Cracker Barrel has a very devoted customer base and I don't see an up side to a brand refresh unless it is extremely subtle. Their whole vibe is throwback comfortable down home dining.
Having been a part of re-banding meetings over the years I can imagine how the pitch went(I was often the tech project lead working with design leads). I love design people but as the customer you HAVE to be very careful with who you partner with. I wonder if CB has new leadership and they were looking to make a splash. That's such a classic pattern. Pattern of bad ideas.
the cracker barrel saga is interesting to me because how do you manage the decline of a brand whose entire theme is falling out of fashion?
i don't think i'd go about it the way they did, but it seems like they're faced with a challenging task.

This is a perfect picture of how dumb social media has become.
Conservative activist Robby Starbuck added his commentary on Thursday, writing in a post on social media site X, “Good morning @CrackerBarrel! You’re about to learn that wokeness really doesn’t pay.”
The backlash is not restricted to conservatives. The official X account for the Democratic party wrote on Thursday, “We think the Cracker Barrel rebrand sucks too.”
EVERYTHING is politics to people that make their money off of making everything political.
The guy on the video on this article gets it.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. It's just the latest in the outrage porn industry.

Its kinda wild. I think people get hooked on outrage just like they do on other emotions.

I mean we gotta give them credit for uniting Republicans and Democrats 😂 both parties were tweeting out about how bad it was!

Nothing will unite people like a common thing to complain about.
