Sometimes you just need to take a graceful exit but it appears that this is going to be a bloody and public fight. You cant buy a home for your "primary" residency and then turn around and start renting it out and then buy ANOTHER home for the same purpose.

This was entirely predictable. The charges against Trump were based on mortgage fraud (in a commercial context, but even the "victim" bank said it was all within the norm).
So, of course, Trump, with his overwrought sense of schadenfreude, would use the same vehicle on his enemies.

Trump's differed dramatically though in that the State was doing something unprecedented in getting involved in a matter between two private parties that had no victims. This clearly does have victims because it is an outright lie to the lender. Trump said I think my property is worth X and they gave him the money based off of it being worth X so they agreed. With Cook she claimed these were primary residences which get lower interest rates however she immediately didnt live in one and instead rented it out. That makes it a much bigger liability.
