EPA won’t use an artificial intelligence prompt to evaluate whether water infrastructure projects approved by Congress comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders, an agency spokesperson said Monday night.
The AI tool, which was viewed by POLITICO’s E&E News, included “rules” for earmarked water projects that flagged phrases like “climate crisis,” “energy efficiency” and “environmental justice.”
The EPA spokesperson initially said the agency was “testing multiple opportunities to harness the power of AI to improve work efficiency” in response to questions about the tool Friday. The spokesperson also said EPA remained “committed to awarding funding” for earmarked projects as directed by Congress “while ensuring that federal funding for water infrastructure aligns with the Administration’s priorities.”
Def not surprised by this. The faith in AI can be fleeting
