So beautiful and look too strong

reply

It's a nice one. And because it has leopard and bully traits, it must be a near perfect breed (a mix of all).

reply

Looks like the kind of guy who will take your spot on the couch and be impossible to move. Haha

reply

He looks friendly, but he's a thick boned dude.

reply

Had a Catahoula once. He was very stubborn. I can't imagine what a bulldog mixed with that would do for that trait.

reply

Yes, it would be twice as stubborn, probably. In my experience American bulldogs can be stubborn. They usually have good judgment though.

reply

When your whole existence is caught up in hanging off the face of a bull, I guess it pays to have tenacity.

reply

Yes. The evolution is interesting. The bulldogs of England evolved into the fighting dogs (pitbulls). There is a theory that colonists brought bulldogs over with them to the US. They didn't look like the exaggerated "English Bulldog" of today. This is an old drawing:

They evolved into dogs like the american bulldog in the farms of the US south.

reply

Color that dog black and it would look just like the lab I had growing up.

reply

Doesn’t really look like a bulldog

reply

Yeah, many american bulldogs don't look like what we think of as a bulldog, and the catahoula doesn't at all.

The breed is named after the Catahoula Parish in Louisiana, where the leopard dog was very popular. In 1979, the Catahoula was chosen as the official state dog of Louisiana.

The Catahoula Bulldog is a loyal and affectionate designer dog developed from two United States-based dog breeds: the Catahoula Leopard Dog and the American Bulldog.
