The big news…

Stacker News Fiction MonthStacker News Fiction Month

We are well into Stacker News fiction month. Here is the official announcement. @Scoresby is the brains behind this idea, which is being jointly sponsored by him along with @TotallyHumanWriter and this territory. As I’m sure many of you know, @TotallyHumanWriter is the editor of the 21 Futures fiction anthology.

There is still plenty of time to submit a fiction piece, so start writing and editing. Win some sats to secure your future.

Don’t forget to also check out the top posts of the week. One of the fiction submissions is our top post. A new SN member also cracked the top five. @SymbolSatoshi has arrived on the scene with a splash. I really enjoyed their piece, The Seed Poem. It is not entered in the fiction competition due to its length, but you should read it.

Reminder: For the time being I will zap the top post half the rewards I receive before the next week’s issue, rather than split zaps into cowboy credits.

Happy reading!

As always, please reply with suggestions and opinions on how to make this territory better.

Siggy’s SuggestionsSiggy’s Suggestions

I suggest you read all of this week’s fiction, since August is fiction month around here.

Speaking of fiction, this post was submitted by newcomer @Ktmorley. It is not in the contest, probably because it seems to exceed the word limit, but I really enjoyed it. I hope to read more from this stacker in the future.

My next suggestion is from the great, not so modest @denlillaapan. He promised me an actual, original, exclusive book review, and he delivered. It is up to his usual standards, but didn’t get the attention it deserved with all this fiction floating around.

Fiction Month was a great idea. I hope I can find time to make a submission. 4,000 words seems doable!

It was all @Scoresby's idea. I'm just along for the ride.

I'm looking forward to reading it!

@denlillaapan should try his hand at some fiction (or convince Lyn Alden to share some of hers...)

reply

no way. NOT my stuff.

Lyn's is in the works, as far as I know. We'll see when it comes out!

Does this mean there actually is a denlillapaan Icelandic saga in some desk drawer?!??

reply

Hahaaaa, no, not at all.

hot take: I think fiction is a little stupid

Do you dare cast aspersions on Calvin and Hobbes?

The Seed Poem’ by @SymbolSatoshi really surprised me — short but it lingers. Also, @Ktmorley’s ‘It Takes Two’? Worth every minute.

Keeping this list up is a wonder of the modern world.

Thanks for your continuing contributions

Massive appreciation for the effort it takes to pull this weekly list together, it’s like the treasure map to the best reading on SN.
