Usually I just take ideas that people talk about, and ignore their personal life.

When multiple people from different walks of life present the same idea from different points of view, it increases my confidence that the idea itself might be interesting and probably true. On the other hand, some ideas are not interesting or true and with this mechanism most of them simply don't work.

People often will have both of those, good and bad ideas, dismissing the entire content because it comes from the same person doesn't seem wise to me.
