Apparently he agreed to the contract provisions and the Bengals gave a larger signing bonus in return.

Fine, for $10M I won't get myself incarcerated.

His guaranteed money could be voided for a helmet to helmet hit if the NFL suspended him for a game. That’s completely different than off the field this encompassed on the field as well

Considering the language they wanted to add yeah no wonder he wanted not only an improved payout structure but more $ up front.
The language states that if he got suspended… say for a football play. They can void all of his remaining guaranteed money. The Bengals brass said well “we won’t do that unless we think we should” yeah as a player why would I trust you

The owner implied it was only for off the field legal stuff.

But the contract language didn’t reflect what the owner said. All the language we ever saw was really for anything and everything that might get you in trouble including on the field and that’s a super hard sell unless you guarantee them most of the money at signing

They are going to need him with Hendrickson holding out.

Solid pickup for the Bengals If Shemar delivers that extra signing bonus might turn out to be a bargain. Cant wait to see him in action.
