It's Saturday. I could have gotten up early and gone for a run. Weather is surprisingly cool for Texas, so a morning run is actually pretty pleasant. My kids slept in, so I didn't have to get them food like I normally do (they have a bad habit of puking if they don't it right away when they wake up). And I woke up early anyway. Not sure why.
I didn't go running.
Instead, I decided to make toasted marshmallow ice cream.
I've tried a number of marshmallow ice cream recipes. First rule is don't use the recipe if they advise using marshmallow spread -- that stuff is gross. Have some self-respect and use real marshmallows. Only the finest corn syrup confections in this house.
Most recipes require making a custard so that you can melt your toasted marshmallows in the hot liquid. It's hard to impart the flavor to a cold milk/cream based ice cream that doesn't involve heat.
Usually I do a ratio of 2 to 1 milk to cream. This time I did a higher cream ratio, more like 1.5 milk to 1 cream. I think it's going to be good.
How to motivate oneself to go running rather than making ice cream? (especially when you believe ice cream is good for you...)

well, but
