No Barking: The Basenji does not bark, but makes a characteristic, yodel-like sound when excited or to warn. African Origin: It originated in Central Africa, where it was used as a hunting dog. Cat-like Behavior: The Basenji often has cat-like behavior, likes to groom itself, and likes high places.
