The redundancy is interesting, I hadn't caught it before but you have a great point about the unnecessary repetition.

Apparently he got a MRSA blood infection (presumably from skin given he coaches wrestling) that got really bad and I presume led to septic emboli his lungs. Was on ECMO for some time. Pretty insane to see that happen to someone so healthy.
I'm guessing Amoxycillin is ineffective against MRSA?
What is the best way to avoid MRSA infection? Hand washing? Wear gloves? Treat all wounds with neosporin and cover with bandaid?
Avoid locker rooms and hospitals?
The worst place to get MRSA is the hospital. They have over used antibiotics until the bacteria are resistant or even immune to the effects of the antibiotics. Many people get their MRSA after operations or any invasive procedure.
Yeah, by definition MRSA is resistant to that generation of penicillin drugs (Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus, vs MSSA which is Sensitive).
Better hygiene wiping down / cleaning BJJ/wrestling mats would probably help. But it's just really horrible luck. Millions of kids wrestle every year and rarely you'll get a superficial cellulitis that doesn't cause complications and is easily treatable.
I suspect him being super healthy led to delaying seeking help. We see this sometimes with kids who are super resilient and eyeball well right until they suddenly decompensate and are at the brink of death. Combined with what I presume is a particularly resistant strain that persisted despite initial course of empiric antibiotic treatment.

I was telling my ex-colleague that it still feels surreal. Having an out-of-body experience, in which I feel that my soul is detached from my physical shell and taking up temporary residence in this new school.
He immediately accused me of being Over The Top dramatic. In my defense, I think I didn’t expect a Primary 5 class to be so energetic. Every other person seemed to be talking at the same time. Geez, and I thought I go to work to get a breather from my kids.
Slight culture shock aside, there’s nothing like a significant change to shake up my routine. So, today I:
I do feel like an Emperor, trying on new clothes for size and seeing whether they would fit me.
New term, new school, new me.
