I knew this was going to be painful! Every time I take the car into the dealership I know I am going to pay an arm and leg to keep my car running. I was told by a wise man never skimp on your transportation. And I don’t believe in trying to find the lowest cost shop/mechanic just to save a few hundred dollars. Nothing is worse than having your car break down when you need it most. Plus with the dealer I get peace of mind and they give me a loaner during the repair.
So today’s surprise repair is cracked control arm bushings
My service rep is a straight shooter he was like if you plan on keeping the car beyond a year then don’t fix it but if you are then you gotta fix it before it gets worse.
Cars are expensive money pits at times but they are also very convenient and allowing me to get where I want to go at any time. Don’t be cheap! Spend the sats and take care of your car!

I agree that cars should be kept in good shape so that they are less likely to break down on you when you need them the most.
I used to bring my cars to the dealership for service too, especially my Toyota Sienna, because it's the one that the wife use to drive the kids around. But ever since my long time friend opened up his own mechanical shop, he's been taking care of my cars. I know he does a good job and he always gives me very good prices (he calls it friends and family pricing). I just did the transmission fluid, engine coolant, and brake fluid for my 171k Sienna all for $450 CAD (309k sats).

Yeah this is the best way to go. My close friend’s dad was a really good mechanic. He used to do work on my car for free but then he passed away. Now I just pay dealer prices but I’m not upset about it. Some things are worth paying for.

Spend the sats and take care of your car!
This phrase applies to anything not only for the car.
Well said!

I've had Porsche's, BMW's, Cadillacs, etc.
The best decision I made is about 5 years ago getting a 10 year old Honda. They are cheap to operate and repair and in fact you can do lots of the routine repairs should you choose.

Yeah the premium brands you pay premium prices but I’m okay with that. I absolutely love the way my Lexus drives and handles. One of the pleasures I indulge in when it comes to life

It's pricey when you go to the dealership.
