Not sci-fi, but his essay on "In The Beginning Was The Command Line" was considered one of the great pro-linux pieces of the late 90s. Not sure how well its aged, but it was good at the time.
For his SciFi, Snow Crash is his classic, but personally I think I preferred Cryptonomicon.
