Who is winning MVP if Indy wins this series? Pretend game 7 doesn’t exist.

Do they only give MVPs to a winner team's player?

reply

Jerry West won the first Finals MVP after losing the 1969 Finals.

No other player has ever won from the losing team. Lebron almost did once.

reply

That's amazing. In Cricket there have been many instances when this is done.

reply

It's usually pretty clear who should win MVP, but the voters definitely lean hard towards players from the winning team.

reply

Who votes? Is there a jury or it's public involved as well?

reply

It's a small group of media members and they make some weird choices when the answer isn't obvious. For example, Steph Curry only won Finals MVP once out of his four titles and he was the most valuable player all four times.

reply

So definitely a rugged election if media does it. Haha

reply

I don't actually think it's rigged. You can tell from what they say on air that they're understanding of the game is pretty superficial.

Media. They have a panel of basketball media assigned to vote.

reply

It's not a rule. They could give it to a player from the losing team but seems unlikely. Happened in NHL last year.

reply

Can it be McConnell?

reply

It's probably Siakam but I want it to be McConnell.

reply

He sure feels like the MVP when he's on the court.

reply

The whole team?

reply

Except for Turner?

reply

Haha yeah.

reply

They play such team basketball it’s hard to pick

reply

That would be awesome
