Happy Father's Day to all dads on SN! This week I am writing about the time when we visited Mount Revelstoke National Park back in September 2021. As the name suggests, Mount Revelstoke National Park is located next to Revelstoke, BC, near the Rocky Mountains. We did not have a lot of time to explore the national park, so we parked our car at the parking lot located at the end of Summit Parkway and hiked the Upper Summit Trail to the summit of Mount Revelstoke. It was a short and relatively easy out-and-back trail that was 3km long with 100m elevation gain. We were greeted with the views of the surrounding mountains and the Columbia River at the summit, as well as a summit house that does not open for public access. The actual name of the building is the Summit Fire Lookout and is a Recognized Federal Heritage Building. Another interesting thing we saw were multiple no dogs allowed signs due to increased number of off-lease dogs and bear encounters. Dogs were completely banned from the summit and backcountry areas, and must be on leash on all remaining permitted areas. Although we did not have a bear encounter, we did indeed ventured into bear country.
We started our hike from the parking lot towards the summit.
We spotted this sign next to a paved road. I believe this is info for drivers.
View of nearby mountains at one of the viewpoints near the summit.
My wife taking photos of our backs again. Me with my two sons admiring the view. Well, the little one seems to be looking at his foot.
Summit Fire Lookout.
Surrounding forests and mountains in the background.
More trees and more peaks.
Close up view of the Summit Fire Lookout with the summit sign.
View at the summit looking at nearby mountain range.
View at the summit looking at the Columbia River.
Info board labeling what you're looking at. Very helpful if you want to know.
Meadow near the peak.
I believe this is called Heather Lake.
We saw multiple no dog signs along the road while driving up.
Well built washroom. Also a big "You are in bear country" sign on the wall.
More no dogs allowed signs.

It's always a good time to head back to the mountains.

The Columbia River. Forms in the Rockies in BC and flows southwest towards the States. It outlets into the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. Very big and long river.

These mountain scenes are awesome, and if there's a big river, I'm all about it! Big up the photographer!

Beautiful views. Does someone man that fire lookout 24/7?
reply
Thanks. No, no one was guarding the structure. It was just locked and you couldn't get inside through the doors.

Awesome views, thanks for sharing !
