I think symbolic numbers have significance. I'm actually someone who's inclined to think the other way (birthdays don't mean anything, etc.)... so I have to actively remind myself that symbolism matters to people, and if matters to people it should matter to me.

Mostly, though, I just want to do cool things, and I thought making the 1,000,000th item a meta post about the 1,000,000th item would be pretty cool.
