I don't think doctors will ever do that. The way most colleagues progress their career is writing research papers, the patient is secondary. There is no incentive to go against the grain and talk about "fad" diets, like keto.
Basic economics, basic nutrition (maybe its' a blessing in disguise that we are not being taught about the american food pyramid though, that thing is disgusting), proper scientific analysis and skepticism in its most basic form are just the first things that come to mind.
UItimately, our enemies are not interested in our education, so it is pointless to talk about what education is missing from our institutions.
The first two weeks I was thirsty as hell and drank a ton of water. Listen to your thirst, there is no need to drink water if you aren't thirsty, which you probably will be. Keep the berries to a minimum, they will just delay your fat adaptation. You might experience the so-called "keto flu", although I personally never experienced it.
Thank you, I have to look up fasting. We are not taught about autophagy in medical school. We are not taught anything about anthropology, and only very little about biochemistry (so nothing about nutrition specifically).
The Randle cycle is a biochemical concept. If you consume more carbs than fat, than your cells will spend more glucose and stimulate the uptake of glucose. If you consume more fat, then your cells will oxidize fat and inhibit glucose entry and expense. It's why the worst thing to do to your body is eat a fatty and carb rich meal (=junk food). Similarly, it seems to me that ketosis, i.e. fat adaptation is best for fasting, since you will be oxidizing your body's fat excess fat supply. That's just an opinion however.
I need to read up about it. If you become fat adapted, i.e. if the Randle cycle switches to fat preference, then no doubt your ability to oxidize stored fats increases. Since most of long-term energy is stored in the form of fat, not glucose (i.e. glycogen), no doubt it will be less unpleasant than fasting while being carb adapted.
Anthropologically, I think we definitely evolved to sustain hunger for days, some nutritionists even think ketosis/the fasting state is actually the default state of human beings. Been thinking of starting prolonged fasting as well, but it still represents a psychological hurdle because back when I was eating carbohydrates, it was unimaginable for me to go without food for longer than 3-4 hours.

There are armies of paid PHDs whose sole purpose is to get you to consume junk. Since we were children, we were told to: eat cereal for breakfast, that bread is part of a normal, balanced diet (it isn't), that we must eat 3 times a day, that gaining weight is sinful and we must atone by punishing ourselves and counting calories as if we were stoves, that eating meat is bad, etc.
Yes, we are all responsible adults and make our own choices, but it is extremely difficult to talk about this stuff. All of these organizations are funded by corporate interests, so where will people get their information from? Ideally, we should keep educating ourselves, but I don't see a bright future ahead for our health.
Energy production will never be free, it can merely get cheaper. Bitcoin mining actually can make our energy grid more efficient, which will overall decrease the production of energy by making renewable energy production more stable and by making fossil fuel utilization less polluting.
Fuck the food pyramid, fuck a "balanced" diet. SAD (Standard American Diet) is responsible for the obesity and CVD epidemic.
