I find it unthinkable for people who wants to remain anonymous to have a public presence for decades... Peter Todd, Adam Back etc...
Perhaps if from the early days of bitcoin people had bothered to reveal Nakamoto's identity they would have found out who he really is. But we're talking about a very small community that didn't get attention in the early days. Today I find it unlikely that the real identity will be found and everything I read is speculation without proof.
You are always welcome. Check here also what else is provided with OpenBSD.
- OpenSMTPD https://www.opensmtpd.org/index.html
- OpenSSH https://www.openssh.com/ Do not forget that ssh was developed and ported for first time by OpenBSD developers and it is part of the OpenBSD project!
- OpenBGPD https://www.openbgpd.org/
- LibreSSL https://www.libressl.org/
And of course OpenBSD firewall (PF packet filtering) which is amazing! Iptables is a huge mess. PF is simple. Take a look here. https://www.openbsd.org/faq/pf/
FInally most linux distros use sudo.
In OpenBSD we use doas (dedicated openbsd application subexecutor) Check the simplicity https://man.openbsd.org/doas.conf.5
Have a nice day!
This website will show you why openbsd rocks!
https://why-openbsd.rocks/fact/
Here you will find OpenBSD news
https://undeadly.org/
https://openbsd.org is the official website of the project. Don't pay attention to the design. Start reading the project goals, cryptography and security mitigations. https://www.openbsd.org/security.html https://www.openbsd.org/crypto.html
The second website I provide you is a simple website to understand in simple words what OpenBSD is and how it works. I hope you take a look and test it first. If you want any help I am here :)
Since we live in the era of digital development, there will be security gaps regardless of the operating systems used by each state. Certainly microsoft is not the best possible solution to security issues but let us not forget that operating systems such as linux are also exposed to risks from time to time. Let's not forget also the xz utils backdoor that was recently discovered and for three years no one understood what was going on.
My personal opinion is that operating systems like OpenBSD are the most secure solution for servers, firewall, router, mailserver, webserver, hypervisors, nas and desktops. Check here

Back in the day Dragon's Tail was an online game that begun in 2010. They were sharing real Bitcoins, and deposits and withdrawals were instant. They added code to allow the first 50 BTC to credit with 0 confirmations and additional ones with 1 or 2 confirms. Statues of the game sometimes gave from 1 to 5 bitcoins...
The idea for a website with q&a, close to AI of nowadays is older than you think. Askjeeves was a question answering–focused e-business founded in 1996!!! by Garrett Gruener
Thank you for the link. Hypothetically in the future a lot can happen. But do I have the right to consider now OpenBSD a very worthwhile project that provides security by default and has things to offer?
Firewall (PF)
Router
Mailserver (OpenSMTPD)
Webserver (httpd)
Hypervisor (vmd)
NAS (softraid)
Desktop
Lol... Yeah I am a Microsoft fan and windows 93 user. Since this discussion is going nowhere let's get down to basics. Projects that have been open source and focused on specific goals for decades do not cause me fear or concern even if they are funded by anonymous people who may be malicious hackers or microsoft. As long as things are open and don't change direction from what we all know there is nothing to worry about... If OpenBSD change goals I will honestly remember you. Take care.
Theo De Raadt created in 1999 OpenSSH. Today Microsoft, Linux and BSD systems uses SSH. What can we do about that? Is it bad? No, its something useful. If Microsoft embraces something useful is not creator's fault. Sorry you are wrong.
Microsoft is the 5th largest contributor to linux core and joined in 2016 linux foundation. That's all I have to say. Should I expect an announcement from the linux kernel developers soon? Which serious project doesn't have donations from those you describe as "devils"?
Do you really believe what you're saying? How will Microsoft or Google control an open source project? The direction and goals of OpenBSD have been very specific for decades and in fact they don't stray in the slightest. Now where you are deriving what you are saying I don't understand.
Microsoft is monitoring this project and many others for reliability, security and of course the SSH that everyone uses. Whether it's BSD, linux or Windows users...
It looks promising for future use, but I would avoid it for now.
Perhaps for some who have testing purposes it might be useful.
Reading on github https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel/blob/master/SECURITY.md, I realize that there are many security holes that average users don't even realize, let alone how many risks they are exposed to.
Traditional methods of cryptocurrency trade and private key storage remain reliable.
Tails OS is a great solution that provides anonymity. Otherwise for more advanced software users, virtual machines over ssh in an OpenBSD cli environment remains 100% secure.
What looks easy to use is not necessarily safe. They should add the following.
"Use at your own risk"
