Fee market. As in transaction fees. It's the only thing powering censorship resistance pretty much
I recently went through this exercise with my wife and we ended on 0%
A large decision driver was CGT - what a fuckup
- bought one of those strike hoodies to support Ross
- subscribed to venice.ai and deleted chatgpt
- donated to a parking lot attendant in a third world country
- topped up my fountain wallet
BTW very relevant post https://primal.net/e/note17f0gqk93mevr6qz4kcu9wdl9pvnkeehdxpf4224fxs9dzt42vfzq9xt0f2
Without a healthy fee market, Bitcoin loses censorship resistance. Spend or die.
A bit late to the party, but my only spend for this week was donating to someone in need affected by the LA Fires
"Bitcoin is not secured by blockchains, hash power, validation, decentralization, cryptography, open source or game theory - it is secured by people"
Something that Swan is good at (and I don't stack through them anymore, but I used to), is guiding and educating users on how to "get their sats off the exchange". Both with actual features in-app, but also with educational material likes docs and tutorials.
Do you think there is an opportunity for a lightning wallet in the space (Blink or otherwise) to follow a similar approach for lightning:
- Onboard users to fully custodial lightning
- Guide/reccommend regular users to move to LSP
- Guide/recommend users to move to their own LN node over Tor
Anyway just an idea - seems rightous, probably doesn't make business sense, and I'm not aware of any wallets in the space doing this.
FWIW I heard from my coffee vendor in El Salvador that the IMF requested that paying taxes in bitcoin should not be allowed. He also mentioned that one of the phone companies stopped accepting BTC over the past couple of days, and that there are concerns in the community that banks might decide to close on and offramps. So sounds like there could still be some gremlins lurking around.
Without being a boots on the ground taxpayer in El Salvador, it's very hard for me to tell whether you can actually pay taxes using BTC there or not.
Paid my membership dues for https://denver.space
Lots of V4V spends on social content.
Some very cool thoughts, thanks for sharing.
I initially decided to have kids because I realized that consciousness is the ultimate gift, and I like gifting :)
Yeah for small amounts there are good P2P options, but Bitcoin probably needs waaay more adoption before we get to larger amounts.
There are always OGs around looking to sell at these prices. I recently started a P2P group in my city.
