El Salvador is incredibly welcoming, and there's still plenty of room for now. However, the influx of both the diaspora and Bitcoiners is off the charts and price of real estate is blowing up. Something to keep in mind for long term planning.

Anyway, if you are interested in residency and citizenship in Bitcoin Country as a digital nomad, here are the time requirements:
π¨ Understanding El Salvador Residency Time Requirements βΌοΈ
1οΈβ£ Year 1 - Temporary Residency:
- Granted for one year upon arrival.
- Leaving El Salvador is allowed, but no single trip should exceed 90 days, and cumulative days abroad should not surpass 120 days.
2οΈβ£ Year 2 to 3 - Visa Extension:
- Your visa can be extended for another two years after the first year.
- Requirement to stay in El Salvador for at least eight months each year remains in effect.
3οΈβ£ Year 3 onwards - Permanent Residency:
- After completing three years, you're eligible to apply for permanent residency.
- This status allows you to leave El Salvador for up to two years in one stretch.
4οΈβ£ Year 5 onwards - Eligibility for Citizenship:
- After five years of residing in El Salvador, you can apply for citizenship.
- As a citizen, you can stay outside El Salvador for up to five years at a time.

Hard to disagree with that and unfortunately it doesn't seem like it'll go away.
It seems to me that the only protections we have against communism are bitcoin and food sovereignty.
