If I understand this correctly, a channel close will now be able to deposit coins into a Silent Payments address instead of an easily traceable address that I've already used ?
Fact, it was not for regulatory reasons.

And fake news, the reason is technical in nature.

This is why LLMās shouldnāt run on helpdesks. They hallucinate answers.
I wish this was a combination of https://Lightning.video, https://zap.stream, https://tunestr.io and https://flare.pub.
The problem with forcing a user to host a video on YT is that it keeps āfeeding the beastā. And the problem of forcing users to upload their content to all these separate hosting platforms is that it time consuming.
Most simply choose YT for sheer convenience. I donāt blame them.
So this idea is quite good, but it should add some more steps:
- Every video is downloaded from YT
- And automatically seeded on #nostr or #DHT (Torrent) based platforms for future reference.
This way we break the cycle of needing YT because āthatās where all videos areā and āhosting is easy via YT.ā
I remember some years ago that I got an email in Japanese (I thought it was Chinese, I was wrong) on an old email address that I don't use anymore.
I wanted to discard it as a SPAM mail, but it turned out to come from the Mt Gox lawyers who wanted to know if/how much they owe me.
Some years ago, I saw a wallet called Spark that let you generate a QR-code to view in your Apple Wallet and Apple Watch Wallet. It was for receiving over lightning, not sending.
I guess with unified BIP21 QR-codes, anyone can already add a RECEIVING wallet code to Apple Wallet today.
I don't think Apple want's to be the middle man in receiving Bitcoin payments though because ātaintedā coins exist in the C-suite mind, and they would rather not receive and handle those.
But Jack Mallers recently told me he wants to integrate Apple Pay into Strike, so who knows, something similar will exist soon.
