This has been an incredible tournament... the king going down (#994800) and returning with a vengeance, several players contending for top spot (#996531), Stackers going bananas with the betting (#981462).
Round 9, the penultimate round, could have been a full sweep...
...but Hikaru didn't trust his guts (taking a free pawn in an opening line), a decision he said afterwards that had he made, he probably would have gone on to win the game. That extra 1.5 points would have made the final round exceeeedingly exciting. Fabiano goes down against Magnus in what looked like a completely drawn, impenetrable end game... and now he's trailing by more than 3 points and so can't win.
It's down to the three I've got my Predyx sats (@mega_dreamer) on -- but mostly just Magnus:
I see @grayruby yolo-ing into Magnus in preparation for Round 9. Bold move, but perhaps not that bold as there aren't too many ways he can screw this up. The GOAT is the GOAT after all, and he has GOATed his way out of trickier situations
For Round 10 we have Magnus vs Arjun, Fabi vs Gukesh, and Wei Yi vs Hikaru.

PLACE YOUR BIDS, Stackers! Final orders!

I was following on Chess.com. I added to Gukesh as well as those are really the only two that could win at this point.

Yeah, I saw you were just brutal ,(so early) there.. It's 90% Final that Magnus will win. My only doubt is that Arjun might stop him at a draw (would be a big achievement for him) and Gukesh defeats fabi.

You come at the king you best not miss. I think Magnus himself posted that meme?

The last round equations:
  • Magnus wins round 10, he's champion.
  • Gukesh wins and Magnus loses or plays a draw, Gukesh is Champion.
  • Nakamura wins and Magnus and Gukesh both lose, Nakamura is a champ.
  • Fabi only has a chance if all three Magnus, Nakamura and Gukesh lose their respective games but Fabi wins.
I strongly predict that Magnus is gonna win the tournament.

Oh, I'm an idiot... I miscalculated Fabi — lol at kindergarten math
